And just like that, 2015 is underway and I’m keen to get started on some marathon training. As I set out in my review of 2014, I am continuing my fundraising this year with an all-new challenge, More Miles for Macmillan, taking in:

Paris marathon – April
Never one to do things by halves, this will push me just a little bit beyond what I have taken on before, but I’m sure I can rise to the challenge. To kick-start my plan (and give me a bit of added motivation to get out there when it’s pitch black, pouring with rain and blowing a gale!) I have also signed up to Jantastic, a free fitness challenge designed to help you stick to your fitness goals throughout the first 3 months of the year. This will be my first experience of Jantastic, but I like the sound of it. It’s aimed at everyone, whether you’re a seasoned athlete or break out in a sweat reaching for the remote control. Participants set their own targets (swimming, cycling, running or a combination) and are rewarded with fitter, healthier versions of themselves by the end of the challenge. Great to get you started on your fitness journey or to start you on your way to a PB.
The benefits of Jantastic include motivation (something we often need at this time of year), challenge (it’s always good to have a goal), a boost to the immune system (colds begone!), more energy (who wouldn’t like more energy?), a bit of help shedding those pesky Christmas pounds (let’s face it, we all over-indulge a bit!) and a sense of community as you can connect with other participants via social media and/or by joining a team.
Fancy it? Well luckily for you there’s still time to sign up. The challenge starts on Monday 5th January so head on over to the website and sign up in minutes. There’s plenty of guidance on setting achievable goals and tracking your workouts is really simple, so what are you waiting for?
And if you’d like to join a team for Jantastic, consider joining us – just search for Steve Bonthrone Fitness in the team list. You’d be very welcome.
Now get out there and make it happen!
Have you participated in Jantastic (or a similar challenge) before or are you taking part this year?
What are your goals for 2015?
Awesome! I’m doing Jantastic this year too – a great way to start the year! ๐

Wow! You have an action-packed first half of 2015. Marathon training starts for me in the last week of January so I am going to take it easy for the next couple of weeks!

I’m the sort of weirdo who enjoys marathon training (I think it’s the routine and structure!) so I’m excited to get started ๐
